About the role

CTSL Spill Specialists is recruiting an Environmental Scientist/Project Manager to join our expanding UK team. Based in Scotland, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of remedial works relating primarily to environmental insurance claims.

You should have:

  • A degree in a relevant subject and be able to demonstrate a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the environmental claims sector, or a suitably related field
  • Experience of site works including soil and water sampling is highly desirable
  • Experience of contaminated land, human health risk assessment, and the preparation of reports also highly desirable
  • We will consider your application if you do not have a degree, but are able to demonstrate significant experience in the construction sector and/or project management
  • Experience of following risk assessments and method statements is essential
  • Experience in the preparation of site health and safety paperwork and Construction Phase Plans is desirable, although full training will be given
  • Excellent communication skills, as management of numerous stakeholders is integral to this role

What to expect

Our day-to-day operations require the remediation of active sites with existing structures and, as such, this role involves the remediation of building structures. Experience in the construction sector and an understanding of residential building construction is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. The role will also include response works, site investigation, remediation and validation of pollution incidents.

This role presents an opportunity for you to develop numerous complementary skill sets in Environmental Consultancy, building projects and project management, including business development and project financial control. Our sector is fast paced, dynamic and no two days are the same. Rather than focusing on just one aspect of a project, this role offers the opportunity to see an entire project through from day one response to sign off, managing all aspects of the works required.

This role involves working on sites throughout Scotland, including on the Scottish Islands, and so offers the opportunity to travel throughout the country. We offer fully flexible working from home for office-based days.

Our regional depot for Scotland is based in Bathgate but, as staff are able to work remotely from home, you would not be required to commute to this depot and as such, we are willing to accept applications from any candidate based full time in Scotland.

A company vehicle is provided for business use, together with a company mobile phone and laptop and the necessary equipment to create a home office. The company covers annual costs for up to two professional subscriptions and is supportive of time for CPD and training.

You must be eligible to work in the UK. Driving licence is essential and you will be required to undergo a DBS check.
