Who does CTSL Spill Specialists work with?

CTSL Spill Specialists, part of national fuel management, storage and clean up business CTSL Group, supports insurers, loss adjusters and homeowner clients, delivering industry-leading urgent spill response, environmental claims management and remediation services which clean up and protect homes, businesses and environments through science-led techniques and using our own in-house specialist talent.

What happens at the start of a CTSL Spill Specialists spill response & remediation project?

When you experience a fuel, diesel or kerosene spill, whether at a commercial premises, agricultural business or at your home, it can be a worrying time. A fast response is critical to ensure the spill is contained, no further damage is caused to the property and to minimise impact on the local environment, whilst reassurance, excellent communication and attentive service levels are a priority for policyholder and homeowner clients.

If you think you might have an oil spill or leak at your property or business premises, make sure you shut the fuel supply off, stem the flow if at all possible and call a local OFTEC registered heating engineer promptly. You don't need to call the emergency services unless there's a direct threat to life, but you should notify your insurance company as soon as possible so that spill response, clean up and remediation can get underway.

How quickly will CTSL Spill Specialists arrive to attend & clean up the spill?

CTSL Spill Specialists will be contacted by your insurer or appointed loss adjuster, who will ask us to attend site as quickly as possible. Our site teams will be mobilised, often from around the country depending on the extent and nature of the spill, and we'll carry out an Initial Site Assessment to determine how the leak or spill has arisen, the damage caused, whether damage is external, internal or both, and the work required to remediate the site back to its previous condition.

As experienced spill response specialists, we can often recommend immediate action, including building works, to be undertaken to prevent damage being extended and to mitigate the spill's impact. We aim to attend every Initial Site Assessment as quickly as possible, but remote areas such as the Scottish Islands and Highlands can sometimes take a little longer to reach.

When does fuel spill clean up work start?

Following completion of our Site Investigation and having received approval from your insurance company, we will start our remediation work. The extent of this varies on every project, from large diesel and agricultural spills to domestic kerosene oil tank spills affecting homes and gardens, and we'll keep you updated and notified as to the work we expect to have to undertake at your property.

Remediation work is unpleasant, requiring a lot of groundworks to dig and remove contaminated materials. Internally, this may mean that structural and non-structural parts of your home are removed, and externally we may need to dig out affected garden areas. Our dedicated project managers will communicate with you regularly, making sure you're aware of the steps we're taking and the work needed to fully restore your property.
