Fuel spill response, clean up, remediation & restoration at period cottage, Lancashire, by CTSL Spill Specialists
Our loss adjuster client's policyholder had suffered a leak from an oil burning stove in their living room. Oil burning stoves are a popular alternative to solid fuel or gas, particularly amongst homeowners of rural properties which do not connect to mains gas, running on kerosene delivered through a heating oil line which may also be connected to an oil boiler.
The policyholder's property, a period home in Lancashire, contained many original features which was a key concern for our spill response and reinstatement team. Following our client's callout to our regional team in the north of England, Project Manager Cian and his team worked with the policyholder to understand their needs, communicating with them throughout as to work and actions to be taken in order to return the home safely, clear of kerosene contaminants.
Internal oil spill clean up & remediation at Lancashire period home
The spill had impacted the home's original stone fireplace, and it was important to the homeowner that the period structure and wood surround details remained in situ and undamaged during treatment.
Our specialist buildings remediation team removed the affected stone hearth and dug out the impacted materials before removing them safely from the property. As this was an internal spill, unpleasant odours spread quickly throughout the home and therefore thorough removal of contaminated material is essential to a safe return of the property to the policyholder.
