Garden affected by fire restored & reinstated by CTSL Spill Specialists

CTSL Spill Specialists received a call from our loss adjuster client to attend a domestic oil spill in Melton Mowbray. A policyholder’s garden, including a garden shed and summer house, had been destroyed by a fire which had in turn melted the home’s plastic domestic oil tank, spilling its kerosene contents over the affected area. When our team attended the site, the outside area was in very poor condition.

The fire service had put the fire out using water, but in turn this had spread the spill of kerosene and the contaminated area was therefore much wider than it would otherwise have been. This is often the case with fire-damaged properties we attend, and the quantities of clean-up and remediation required is therefore more substantial.

CTSL Spill Specialists dug out and removed 100 tonnes of contaminated material from the garden, an indication as to the extent of the spread of kerosene due to the water used to extinguish the fire. Following a period of treatment and remediation to ensure the ground was clear of pollutants, our team then reinstated the garden to an excellent standard.

The transformation from fire-damaged space to a garden the policyholder was once again able to enjoy is spectacular, and we’re proud to have delivered an exceptional result for this homeowner.
