CTSL Spill Specialists UK-wide team pulled together recently to complete a fast-response domestic oil spill clean up in Rhyl, North Wales.
Fast-response oil spill clean up in North Wales
Demonstrating our national reach, strength-in-depth expertise and commitment to service, this project called on a fast response from both our CTSL Spill Specialists’ oil spill team and our CTSL tank fabrication personnel in Preston to get to Wales quickly, clean up the spill and restore the homeowner’s heating.
Our team received a call at 4.30pm, asking us to attend a property in Rhyl, North Wales. Traces of kerosene had been identified at a local waste water treatment works, which the utilities provider then traced back to the homeowner’s property. A leak from the bottom of the homeowner’s domestic heating oil tank was found.
CTSL Spill Specialists’ nearest team at the time of the call was in Nottingham, and without hesitation we travelled across to North Wales to attend the property.
Meanwhile, and with a temporary tank required urgently, our Preston CTSL team mobilised tank installation expertise and a suitable domestic tank, and travelled to meet the Spill Specialists’ spill response team on site in Wales to get the home’s heating back up and running.
The utilities provider had turned off the homeowner’s tank but not the boiler inside the property, creating an air lock in the fuel supply which meant that the boiler could not then operate. Our team was on site until around midnight, restoring heating at the property by bleeding fuel through from the new temporary tank to the building.
We were pleased to successfully bring the central heating system back into operation, a fantastic example of our commitment to customer service and care for homeowners at a time when they’re understandably worried.
With oil already in the ground, a fast response remediation solution was required. Our initial report to our loss adjuster client was turned around quickly, and remediation commenced on site without delay.
CTSL Spill Specialists’ team is now on site in North Wales, digging out contaminated materials and remediating the site to ensure all spilled kerosene is removed, the site remediated fully and no further risk presented to either the property or the public waste water system.
We were pleased with how seamlessly CTSL Group and CTSL Spill Specialists worked together on this project, from an initial call at 4.30pm to restoration of heating and installation of a temporary tank by midnight, by teams called from Nottingham and Preston to travel immediately to North Wales for a fast turnaround of initial work.
