CTSL Spill Specialists’ Scotland team has recently completed the internal clean up and remediation of a domestic kerosene oil spill in Jedburgh, Scotland.

An oil-fired boiler at the property had leaked into the fabric of the building, with oil retained in joists and flooring. The property’s owner had noticed an unusual smell but only after the leak had taken hold. When CTSL Spill Specialists first attended the property, our team identified that the leak was affecting the internal parts of the building, but we could only discover the full extent of the damage once clean up and remediation work had begun.

The boiler had been located in the kitchen, and the oil leak had also impacted the property’s bathroom. Our expert remediation buildings team cut out the affected areas of the building, taking down internal partitioning, removing materials contaminated by the oil spill, and reinstated all areas.

CTSL Spill Specialists employs our own, in-house buildings teams, enabling us to manage oil spill clean up projects efficiently and adapting to conditions on site as the extent of a spill is uncovered. Our Scotland-based team was able to turn the Jedburgh property around quickly, completing the full job in under 3 weeks and including final finish and decoration of the areas impacted by the oil spill.

Our own plumber restored the bathroom and kitchen appliances and fittings, including the installation of a new boiler due to damage sustained by the old appliance. The boiler was moved to a new, safer location during the works.
