CTSL Spill Specialists handles remote Outer Hebridean spill with 3D modelling software
24 Nov 2021
Our CTSL Spill Specialists' Scotland team has been appointed to handle a remote spill in the Outer Hebrides, making excellent use of 3D modelling software to report to our Manchester-based client.
CTSL Spill Specialists appointed to handle Outer Hebrides internal kerosene oil spill
Our spill response teams are based throughout the UK, and our Scotland depot was pleased to be able to respond to a recent call from our leading loss adjuster client based in Manchester.
Fast spill response wherever your policyholders are
Receiving the initial call over a weekend in early November, our team mobilised quickly to reach the policyholder's property, which had suffered a heating oil kerosene spill, on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. This beautiful - and remote - part of the country can only be reached by boat by our team when carrying equipment, and we were able to secure a place on the ferry for Tuesday morning, getting CTSL Spill Specialists to site that day.
Travelling to remote areas such as this is the norm for our personnel, given that most homes in more remote areas are heated by kerosene. With good human resource, strategic locations which serve the whole of the UK and service levels unmatched in the industry, CTSL Spill Specialists' team is committed to delivering a prompt turnaround following initial calls, wherever our clients' policyholders are.
3D modelling software creates valuable internal survey to save time & travel expenses
Owain Roger, our Senior Project Manager, surveyed the policyholder's property and took a 3D scan of the affected internal areas using our 3D modelling software and camera. This valuable equipment enabled us to produce an initial site investigation report which could be given full consideration by the client without the need for the loss adjuster to visit site, saving on time, travel costs and carbon footprint!
The kerosene spill had impacted and damaged the floor of the policyholder's kitchen and utility area. Using the 3D model, and backed by our report and Owain's knowledge following his on-site investigation, our client is able to note the extent of the damage, affected areas, any impact on structure and work required to enable the policyholder's home to be restored in as short a turnaround time as possible.
CTSL Spill Specialists added crucial value to the early stages of this kerosene spill response project, with:
- Weekend emergency call response for loss adjuster client, logging the job with our team immediately
- Mobilise Scotland depot team and Project Manager for urgent initial site investigation
- Understanding of accessibility and local geography, enabling us to secure transport via ferry to the policyholder quickly
- Fully-equipped unit and highly experienced Project Manager attended site promptly
- 3D modelling of affected property for rapid reporting to client with full visuals - not just photographs, but a high-definition walk-through
- Good communication with policyholder to advise on each anticipated phase of the project
- Excellent relationship with loss adjuster to progress initial site report and authorisation of works
