CTSL Spill Specialists' Cambridge depot has recently completed a kerosene spill clean-up and garden restoration project at a domestic property.

Following a call from our loss adjuster client, CTSL Spill Specialists deployed our Cambridge depot team, led by Project Manager Andrew Cooper, to the policyholder's property nearby. The home had experienced a kerosene oil spill from a boiler, with dead grass surrounding the external appliance a tell-tale sign of the spill extent and damage.
Our team, comprising Andrew, Robert and Scott, assessed the spill on site, reporting quickly to our client from the property on the extent of the damage and recommended remediation, as well as discussing with the policyholder and his family what to expect from the project and how CTSL Spill Specialists operates.

Having achieved confirmation from the insurer that works were to go ahead, we immediately moved the boiler which allowed us to dig out and remove contaminated material. The degraded damp proof membrane was removed and replaced, and our team then tested the masonry to measure the impact of the spill on the structure of the property itself.
Fortunately, the spill hadn't severely affected the masonry and a surfactant scrub of the brickwork, foaming and lifting the material on the surface of the property, was sufficient to clean and remediate the wall. The excavated area was reinstated with clean materials, and grass seed sown over the surface to restore the greenery of the policyholder's garden.
In this case, the policyholder was an elderly gentleman. We worked with both him and his three children to communicate each stage, and took care to help him feel more comfortable in his home while work was being carried out.
