Domestic kerosene oil spill in Skye, Scotland

UK Wide Oil Spill Clean-up

Having received a call from our loss adjuster client, CTSL Spill Specialists based at our Bathgate depot attended site next-day in the northern reaches of the Isle of Skye.

The insured property, a guest house, had been closed during the coronavirus pandemic but was preparing for reopening and had suffered a kerosene spill to the exterior of the property following a new delivery of fuel. It was imperative to get the business back up and running quickly, enabling the client to open for business and start to recover losses during what will hopefully be a busy summer period.

We carried out an Initial Site Assessment on site, and once appointed our remediation and buildings teams worked efficiently to excavate the garden area, working around a lot of service conduits to the property, remove all contaminated material, control the spill to ensure that no further contamination was suffered and then to fully restore and reinstate the garden, ensuring that our property owners and their guests could enjoy the outdoor area.

Our team completed the project in a month, having been appointed in mid-June and completing the restoration work in mid-July. The site has been fully handed back to the policyholders.

“We would like to thank you for the very professional manner you have conducted yourself through the clean up, from the initial assessment and investigation to the conclusion with your regular visits and updates. It was clear you were in complete control. We were delighted with the way that your two engineers conducted themselves whilst attending our property. They were both polite, respectful of our property, communicative, hard working, neat, friendly, confident and a pleasure to have met. They left the site in a very tidy condition. Thank you for providing us with two very trustworthy individuals.”

Fully in-house scientific & building skills for complete kerosene clean-up

Whether your spill affects internal, external or both elements of a property, we will sensitively handle the project with respect for the home and homeowner.
