CTSL Remediation - Services Provided

The CTSL team includes staff from a consulting background with extensive experience in the assessment and remediation of contaminated land.

A completed remediation project includes:

  • Desk-based assessments
  • Development of detailed Conceptual Site Models and hydrogeological models
  • Intrusive investigations using a range of borehole and excavation plant
  • Design, installation and monitoring of a range of borehole installations from simple groundwater or gas monitoring standpipes to piezometers and extensometers
  • Detailed collation and assessment of data captured during drilling, from instrumented boreholes or from laboratory analysis
  • Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment to derive remedial targets
  • Design of remediation strategies
  • Supervision and monitoring of remediation and/or protective systems
  • Reporting and liaison with regulators for all of the above

In addition to remediation by more routine methods including excavation and removal off-site, the ground and groundwater contamination programmes that have been successfully implemented by CTSL staff include:

  • Assessment of gas regimes for sites with hazardous soil gas conditions and the design of gas protection schemes for residential and large commercial buildings
  • Remediation of soils contaminated with asbestos and metals including use of soil washing
  • In-situ pump and treat systems to deal with hydrocarbon contamination of groundwater and surface water.
  • Single- and dual phase vacuum extraction for hydrocarbon contamination of groundwater

CTSL can also design, install, operate and maintain the following treatment technologies:

  • Packaged solvent recovery systems
  • Oil/water separation
  • Vapour and Aqueous phase activated carbon
  • Catalytic oxidation systems
  • Iron/manganese removal systems
  • Vacuum strippers and air strippers
  • Sand filtration systems
  • Ion exchange systems - anion/cation
  • Sedimentation/flocculation
  • Ex-situ soil treatment
  • Soil disposal

The challenge for CTSL is to understand the nature of the spill and to then identify the right combination of remediation techniques. Our team of Process Engineers, Civil Engineers, Consultants, Electricians and Technicians have the experience to offer you pragmatic guidance to address your next remediation challenge.
